The technical director of the Colombian National Team explained why he did not call the ’10’ of Millonarios, despite its outstanding level in the BetPlay League. As he commented, this call is not the right time for the young midfielder to have his first appearance with the ‘tricolor’ team.
“In the conversations with Alberto Gamero there was the name of Daniel Ruiz, a boy with a great future, with many conditions, but I think we still have time to see him, get to know him more closely and put him to play. Suddenly if I take him in this call, I will not have the opportunity to see him in action for a long time, ”he explained.

The DT was clear in pointing out that, although the fans of the ‘albiazul’ team consider that it was an opportunity for Ruiz —due to the lack of continuity of James Rodríguez—, in his opinion, James is on another level because of what he means for the group.
“The message is that we can’t compare Daniel Ruiz to James right now. I was clear when I said that there are important players on and off the pitch. The commitment James showed me deserves him to be in the group,” he stated.
