Nearly a thousand children from Toledo participate in sports activities organized by CLM

“A successful participation in this sports Day organized by the regional government, in collaboration with schools, clubs, federations and the Town Hall of Toledo, to join the European Week of Sport”. This is how the delegate for Education and Culture, José Gutiérrez, described this sports day that was held yesterday afternoon at the Toledo School of Gymnastics and in which around a thousand boys and girls have gathered , among 5 and 12 years, throughout four hours of activities.

José Gutiérrez explained that this activity has consisted of “an authentic Sports Amusement Park”, in which girls and boys from Toledo have been able to participate in more than twenty sports without interruption from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. These activities have been enjoyed free of charge and have had the presence of qualified instructors and trainers.

Among the modalities that these boys and girls have been able to practice are Golf, Fencing, Skating, Badminton, Athletics, Soccer, Basketball, Karate, Tennis, Padel, Kin-Ball, Futcesto, Climbing, Orienteering, Hiking, Sky-Surfing, American Track, Beach Volleyball, Zumba, Climbing Wall, etc.

“With this activity, the Castilian-Manchego Government joins the objectives of this European Week of Sport which are combating a sedentary lifestyle and promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles”, pointed out the provincial delegate for Education, Culture and Sports.

Gutiérrez, after thanking “all of you who have made this sports day possible, recalled that the European Week of Sports, which takes place from September 23 to 30 under the slogan “Be Active”, is an initiative of the European Commission to combat a sedentary lifestyle and promote physical activity, as well as good eating habits among the population and, as in previous years, the General Directorate of Youth and Sports of the regional government actively joins this initiative, with activities in all the provinces of the region.

This sports day was also attended by the Councilor for Youth and Sports of the Toledo City Council, Pablo García.
