NBA Exec Explains Why New York Knicks’ Julius Randle Trade Won’t Happen

The New York Knicks’ Most Improved Player champion is a long way off a deal that would make them next season’s most improved team, according to an unnamed NBA executive.

Speaking to Heavy.com’s Sean Deveney, the exec poured water on the fires of a Julius Randle trade, saying the veteran’s downfall after getting a $117million contract extension makes him a poison for transactions.

“They owe him $117 million over the next four years,” the executive said. “Nobody is trying to assume that. If you give that kind of extension and look to trade the guy a year later, you don’t get anything of value in return.”
