Miguel Becerra dreams big

Winning the first gold medal for Mexico in the World Games, being in fifth place in the World Cup ranking and confirming its place in the continental selection for the specialty, in Santiago, Chile, are just some of the achievements that motivate Jalisco goalkeeper Miguel Becerra Rivas heading to two high-caliber commitments: World Cup Final and the Pan American of the discipline for the place in Santiago 2023.

“On a personal level, it helped me realize that I really am at a level that I dreamed of being since I started archery, being in the top five of archers, it makes me feel very happy and satisfied with what the year has been. ”, indicated the goalkeeper in an interview with the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sports (CONADE).

One of the moments most remembered by the team that is preparing in his home state was the gold medal at the last World Games in Birmingham 2022.

“It was my first World Games, which are every four years; Taking the gold and being the first in the history of national archery has a lot of meaning for me, it has been the greatest achievement for me in the sport”, he assured.

Another of the goals that came true, he explained, was the classification for the Final of the World Cup series, which will take place this year in Tlaxcala, on October 15 and 16; a situation that excites him, since it will be his first final and where the support of the public will be a motivation for the entire national team.

“Very happy and satisfied, it is the first time that I am going to a cup final and we are going to do our best; It is a plus to have the fans on your side, that it is here in Mexico is a plus, but I think it is also one more responsibility to give a good role in front of your people, more than anything it is to find a balance between both parties, ” he pointed.

Recently, the man from Jalisco ratified his place in the national archery team, in the compound modality, with which he will compete in the Pan American of the discipline, an event he will attend with the aim of achieving the place in Santiago 2023.

“We already have one with Dafne (Quintero) and Sebastián (García), who won the round in Cali-Valle 2021 and they have secured their pass to the Pan American Games, but we seek to take the entire team, in November we are going for those places”, he asserted.
