Menpora Reveals Shin Tae-yong’s Request to President Jokowi All

KOMPAS.com – Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali revealed the request that had been conveyed by the coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong, to President Joko Widodo.

According to Menpora Zainudin Amali’s statement, Shin Tae-yong’s request came when the coach met President Jokowi in South Korea last June.

At that time, President Jokowi was on a working visit to East Asia, including South Korea. He also invites Shin Tae-yong to have dinner together.

On this occasion, President Jokowi was said to have asked Shin Tae-yong about the basic things needed for the development of Indonesian football.

“When the President was in Korea, Coach Shin Tae-yong was there and then he was invited to have dinner. Then there was a chat,” said Minister of Youth and Sports Amali to the media crew, Wednesday (21/9/2022), quoted from Between News.

“Then the President was asked what you (Shin Tae-yong) need the most basicly,” said Minister of Youth and Sports Amali.

After receiving this question, Shin Tae-yong suddenly discussed the shortcomings of Indonesia, which does not have training center.

In fact, according to Shin Tae-yong, training center It is very much needed in the process of developing football in a country.

“He said that Indonesia does not have training campSo if you are playing in stadiums and waiting for a schedule, it’s not good for coaching,” said Minister of Youth and Sports Amali regarding Shin Tae-yong’s request.

Shin Tae-yong’s request received a positive response from President Jokowi who was then willing to prepare training center for the Indonesian national team.

“So the President (said) okay, I’ll prepare it,” said Menpora Amali.

According to Menpora Amali, President Jokowi immediately followed up on Shin Tae-yong’s request by inviting himself and the chairman of PSSI Mochamad Iriawan to convey further plans.

“He (President Jokowi) said that if there are candidates or other places, please prepare them, but if there are none, there is land in the IKN (Nusantara Capital),” said Menpora Amali.

The Minister of Youth and Sports emphasized that he and the Head of the PSSI positively welcomed the plan to build a training center (training center) football at IKN.

The reason, he admitted that it became the absence of training center become one of the weaknesses of football development in the country.

According to the Minister of Youth and Sports, the letter listed the design of the fields to be built as well as the main arena that might be used as a location for the Indonesian national team’s matches.
