When the fans come home…

The Wolfsburg bankruptcy at Union Berlin (0: 2) pursued Max Kruse (34) involuntarily from home. VfL head coach Niko Kovac (50) suspended him a week and a half ago. There was still a real stadium atmosphere for the striker…

At night, some Union supporters traveled home to Kruse, who played for Union until January 2022. The poker fan lives only 25 minutes by car from the Alte Försterei in the Berlin Wave complex, directly on the Spree. And the Berlin supporters immediately caused trouble.

“There was a lot going on on my doorstep. There were a few Union fans here, including Bengalos,” reveals Kruse on his Instagram profile. “The police had to come because the neighbors called the police and it got a bit too loud.”

However, the surprise visit did not bother the ex-national player (14 appearances/four goals). On the contrary: “I definitely appreciate this recognition very, very much and wanted to thank you very much for it.”

During the game, Kruse was a topic for the home fans. Loudly it echoed through the stadium: “Without Kruse, you have no chance.”

This Wolfsburg mockery was well received by Kruse who had been booted out.

“Of course I heard what the fans were singing. It’s always a nice feeling to hear from the fans of a team where you used to play,” emphasizes last year’s Olympic participant. “Thank you very much for that.”

But Kruse can also deal with serious issues. The ex-Unioner also uses his popularity for a good cause and calls for support against blood cancer: “Please register at DKMS.de. Many people need your help. I’m also registered. Many people can be helped.”
