Multiple people were shot dead in Chicago’s Washington Park while a baseball game was being played as police swarmed the scene.
The officers intervened on the spot around 20:00 local time after reports of gunshots.
Chicago fire officials told the Chicago Tribune that at least four people – three men and one woman – had been taken to area hospitals.
According to FOX32, three of the victims are in critical condition and one is in fair condition.
Some of the victims were taken to the University of Chicago hospital.
Paramedics responded to the scene at East 51st Street and South Champlain Avenue at around 8pm, the Tribune reported.
Tom Ahern with the Chicago Police Department shared that the exact number of victims and their condition is not yet known.
Ahern also shared with FOX32 that the shooting occurred while a baseball game was being played on one of the park’s fields.
