Malta suspends national coach after reports of sexual misconduct with player | International football

Devis Mangia was not on the bench at Malta on Tuesday during the friendly against Israel. The national coach has been temporarily suspended “after a report about an alleged violation of our policy”.

It was the Times of Malta newspaper that rang the bell last weekend. There are reports of alleged sexual misconduct by national team coach Devis Mangia towards a player of the national team.

The Maltese Football Association responded two days later by suspending Mangia. According to the official statement, the union had received a report “about possible violation of the policy”.

Mangia’s contract with Malta runs until the end of 2023. Previously, the Italian worked at Ascoli, Palermo, Bari, Spezia, the Italian promises and Universitatea Craiova in Romania.
