Lineups Belgium – Wales (Nations League A)

Roberto Martinez is going to test certain things against Wales, we are pretty sure of that. But what? On the defensive, he’ll want to experiment to see what options he has if something happens to his old age blankets.

Denayer (less than a minute played due to lack of a team) and Boyata (injured) are not among them. So there is a place open in the three-man defence. Zeno Debast is a possibility there. But the national coach is not the man to immediately give newcomers a starting place.

Leander Dendoncker? That’s the most logical option, but the national coach already knows what he has to offer. Wout Faes or Arthur Theater? The two youngsters are already jumping for a chance. But possibly Martinez just puts Timothy Castagne in defense on the right and Alderweireld in the center. That could well be the line-up he has in mind for the World Cup. Meunier could turn up on the right.

On the left, Carrasco is sure of his place and Eden Hazard gets at least an hour of playing time in the pocket. Next to Kevin De Bruyne and in front of Axel Witsel. The choice is not that big up front. Michy Batshuayi is in the striker in the absence of Lukaku. Openda will probably also get some of the minutes.

Probable arrangement: Courtois, Meunier, Castagne, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Carrasco, Witsel, Tielemans, De Bruyne, Hazard, Batshuayi
