Born five years ago, the Laver Cup has been decried because it upset habits and created a joyous mess in an already very busy calendar.

Some tournament directors rightly complained of unfair competition while explaining that this exhibition had no sporting legitimacy.

This observation had not been called into question over the years, especially since each time Europe led the debates without really forcing.

And then there was the announcement of Roger this year, the obligatory spotlight that ends with a victory, the first, for the rest of the world.

Suddenly the Laver Cup becomes a separate competition, the scene of all the craziness, as if this modern event was finally becoming part of our habits, just a week after the sad spectacle of the Davis Cup Gérard Piqué version…
