Latvian bobsledders will not start the new season in the World Cup circuit

At the beginning of the school season, the national team trains with a smaller team than in the summer, because the unit includes both high school students and students, says the national team’s head coach Sandis Prusis.

“All the same athletes who were with us in the spring are still training with us, with the exception of Oskars Ķibermans, who needed an operation this summer,” explains Prusis.

Pusher Intars Dambis, who devoted 20 seasons to bobsleigh, is not currently training in the team.

When asked about Dambi, Prusis answers that “he didn’t say anything, but knowing his “personal code”, I think that he has made his work for us an honor”.

On November 11, Latvian bobsledders will hold the first official training runs before the opening stage of the European Cup season at the Lillehammer track in Norway.

It has already been reported that the first three stages of the World Cup will take place in North America, where the Latvian national team has decided not to go, instead participating in the first three stages of the European Cup – in Lillehammer, the German track in Altenberg and the Austrian track in Eagles.

“We decided that it would be better for our team to start the season in the European Cup, because we will not be in two parts, but all in one big team. We will continue to work like this until at least the middle of December and we will start with at least three teams, with Emil Cipulis, Dāvis Kaufmanis and Jēkabs taking the pilot’s place Kalendam,” says Prusis.

In the new season, two stages of the competition will also be held on the Sigulda track. The European Cup stage will take place here in mid-January, and the final stage of the World Cup in February.
