Latest BWF Ranking: Kevin/Marcus Dropped in Position

Badminton World Federation (BWF) has released the latest ranking list of the world’s top badminton players. Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon definitely dropped to second place.

The update can be seen on the BWF website as of September 20, 2022. Kevin/Marcus, who previously continued to be strong and dominated the men’s doubles sector in the last five years, now have to go down in rank.

They are now in second place after being shifted by Japanese doubles Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi. Kevin/Marcus collected 100,327 points, while Hoki/Kobayashi won 102,050 points in first place.

Throughout this year, Kevin/Marcus indeed not get maximum results in a number of international tournaments. The best achievements of the two are semifinalists at the Indonesia Masters and All England 2022.

They even often miss several matches because Marcus’ condition has not fully recovered after ankle surgery.

Of the two other men’s doubles, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan and Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto did not experience a change in position. Each is still in fourth and sixth place with a collection of 94,895 and 84,755 points.

Likewise, the other three Red and White men’s doubles remained in their positions last week. Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Rambitan, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, and Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin are ranked 13th (64,197 points), 16 (58,212 points) and 17 (58,107 points).

From the women’s doubles sector, Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramdhanti experienced a significant increase. They rose three places to 28th in the world. Apriyani/Fadia now pack 45,690 points.

Similar changes were also experienced by Febriana Dwi Puji Kusuma / Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi, who rose one level to rank 35 with 41,168 points.

Meanwhile, Nita Violina Marwah/Putri Syaikah dropped two places to 49th with 32,856 points.

There were no significant changes in the men’s singles and mixed doubles sectors. Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie are still ranked sixth and eighth in the world.

For Shesar Hiren Rhustavito and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo are ranked 24 and 25. Both this week experienced a ranking renewal after moving up one level. Meanwhile, Rinov Rivaldi/Phita Haningtyas Mentari are still in 17th position in the world.
