The national games were opened on Tuesday with a torch relay through the city center and a celebration in the evening.
800 athletes with and without mental disabilities compete at the inclusive sports festival until Thursday under the motto “Strong together”.
Which sports are included?
There are a total of twelve different sports in the Special Olympics. For example football, judo, athletics, swimming and golf.
Admission is for free
If you want to watch, you can go for free. The respective competitions take place at the Deutsches Eck Boccia, among other places. Swimming in the Beatusbad and in the Sportpark Oberwerth football, badminton, athletics, tennis and table tennis.
