With the 2022-23 NBA season fast approaching, ESPN has decided to roll out its list of the league’s top 100 players. One of the most surprising rankings was that of Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant at eighth on the list. Many people were confused as to how Durant could be so low, including Durant himself.
Durant, being the active Twitter user that he is, used the app to throw shade at ESPN’s roster. He tweeted a photo of the lyrics to a song called “Uncle Bun” by rapper Benny the Butcher which seems to imply that Durant thinks he should be included in the top five on the list. Take a look below:

Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum and Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James came in just ahead of Durant. Tatum received plenty of praise for sweeping Durant and the Nets out of the playoffs and leading the Celtics to the Finals, while James got credit for the Lakers’ limited success last season and kept them afloat too. long as he did.
You can make the case that Durant belongs to those two guys for coaching a beaten Nets team to the playoffs in the first place. He could even break into the top five by edging out Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, although that seems unlikely considering Curry led the Warriors to their fourth title in the last eight years last season.
Either way, it doesn’t look like Durant is too happy, and that will surely add fuel to the fire for him as he looks to prove himself to the NBA after a rocky offseason with the Nets. . With the added motivation he has now, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see Kevin Durant move up that list when ESPN releases him around this time next year.
