The third and final stage of the Regional Championships of company and individual of Judo signed Fisdir Sicilywhich ended last Sunday 25 September at the ICS “Cruillas” gymnasium, Mendelssohn complex in via Brunetto, 1 a Palermo, with a more than satisfactory balance not only from a technical point of view of performance, but also in terms of attendance and new memberships. The event, organized by Fisdir Sicily in collaboration with Send to Sicilywon the 2022 regional discipline title with 236 points atASD SporT21 Sicily.
“This event also demonstrated how much the discipline of judo for athletes with relational intellectual disabilities is on the rise – said the regional delegate Fisdir Sicilia, Roberta Cascio -, by registering both constant confirmations and new and promising entries. What we hope is that these numbers can increase more and more – continued Cascio -, even if we are very confident for the future of this discipline in our territory. We are satisfied with the work done by the masters and technicians who closely follow our athletes – Cascio concluded – because they knew and will be able to make them better and more competitive both nationally and internationally “.
An audience of 4 companies registered in the championship, of which 3 have completed all the stages of the championship, which have lined up just over 20 athletes who alternated on the tatami, the scene of important performances and many emotions. A very high level, the one that emerged also in this last phase, which can only confirm the growth from all points of view of this discipline in its Paralympic meaning dedicated to athletes with relational intellectual disabilities. Growth also highlighted by the increase in the number of registered athletes: “As always we have experienced beautiful moments of joy and great emotions – said Giosuè Giglio, regional technical referent for judo Fisdir – registering, once again, a good margin of growth both from the point of view of insertion in the social context and of self-discipline and respect for the rules and opponents. The last stage only confirmed this growth, including among its participants the international champion and member of the Italian national judo team C21, Davide Migliore, who is about to leave for the SU-DS world championships in Maideira (Portugal). To complete this very exciting picture – concluded Giglio – the first national Fisdir judo meeting entitled “SportiAmo”, organized by the Palermo ASD Conca D’Oro, which will take place in Palermo on 21 and 22 October next and which will involve, for the first time ever in the Paralympic history of Fisdir Sicily, judoka from all over Italy”.
Another important success for the Sicilian Paralympic judo discipline was the numerical growth of the members with 8 participating athletes in 2021, against the 24 registered in 2022 and 50 normally involved in the national context: in short, almost 50% of national judokas are Sicilian.
