Journalist Predictions: Cowboys vs. Giants

Week 3 is upon us, and the Cowboys have momentum after their win over the 2021 AFC champions. Nobody believed Dallas last week, but what we learned is that under Micah Parsons, the Cowboys will be competitive in every game this year.

After two weeks, the Cowboys were 0-1 when Dak Prescott led the team and are now 1-0 when their quarterback is Cooper Rush. What does that mean? Only we will expect the unexpected in 2022.

This Monday night, Dallas will take on the New York Giants, a team that is revitalized with new head coach Brian Daboll and the return of their star Saquon Barkley. But they still have Daniel “Danny Dimes” Jones at quarterback, a player with an affinity for turning the ball over.

So what should we expect this Monday? The unexpected, obviously. But still, as always, our journalists studied the game and will give us their own predictions.

It is true that the Giants have had a good start to the season. Two wins, tackle Andrew Thomas showing a good level, Saquon Barkley being a threat on the ground… But, in my opinion, you have to take a closer look.

It is true that the Titans and Panthers lost because of their mistakes against the Giants. However, his defenses managed to sack Daniel Jones eight times, making him the third-most sacked quarterback so far this season. This says a lot about the G-Men’s offensive linemen (aside from Thomas), and that’s going to be key. If Micah Parsons and company can repeat or top what they did against the Bengals, the balance could tip in Dallas’ favor.

In my opinion, this will be a close game that Dallas can win. To do this, the defense has to completely stop Jones and Barkley, while the offense must overcome what was done against Cincinnati. Without resting on our laurels, of course. Cowboys 23, Giants 17.

Dallas achieved a great victory against Cincinnati that will allow them to have peace of mind at the MNF in New York. Although confidence will not be the only factor that gives him opportunities to come back victorious again. Although the Giants are 2-0, the Cowboys will have a favorable game. The presence of Cooper Rush as quarterback generates another sensation after the good performance of him.

The defense will have a fairly obvious primary task. The rival attack depends exclusively on what Saquon Barkley does on the ground. In case it is limited New York has no other fear tools. For the offense, the plan that Kellen Moore establishes will be essential. Defensive backs aren’t featured, so you have to be aggressive through the air. If production drops again from the third quarter, everything could be unnecessarily complicated for the unit. Cowboys 20, Giants 9.

The Cowboys will have their first direct division duel against the New York Giants this Monday night. A clash that brings them to them as the rivals have a perfect record so far, with a game on the ground that has drawn widespread attention. Opposing running back Saquon Barkley has 236 yards on 39 carries and a touchdown. So the Cowboys linebacking corps will have to pay close attention to the No. 2 pick in the 2018 Draft.

Likewise, the Cowboys offense will continue to have Cooper Rush, who will start at quarterback for the second time this season. If all goes as it should, he’ll have the weapons in the receiving corps that stood out against the Bengals, such as Noah Brown and CeeDee Lamb. Also, Michael Gallup may finally make his season debut, as he has been running smoothly in practice. Everything seems to indicate that the Dallas offense could maintain the rhythm that could be seen at the beginning of the game against the Bengals. If they extended that production, they could easily annihilate the Giants in their own stadium. Cowboys 23, Giants 17.

There is a sense of confidence in Dallas after their win last week, and especially since the Cowboys have won 9 of the last 10 against the Giants. But this New York team isn’t the same dysfunctional group Dallas has faced in the past.

The Cowboys could easily have lost to Cincinnati last week, because they continue to make the mistakes that characterize teams that lack discipline and good training. The Giants, on the other hand, are playing with more discipline this year under their new coaches and are eager to show the world that their first two wins this season were no flukes.

It would be a mistake to underestimate the Giants, a team that could conceivably contend for the NFC East championship. I see a defensive game, difficult to watch but with a close score until the last minutes. Giants 20, Cowboys 13.
