Ane Mintegi has not been able to with the Czech hurricane. The tennis player from Idiazabal was eliminated in her debut at the San Sebastian International Open ITF 60 by Brenda Fruhvirtova 6-4, 6-2 in the round of 32.

Due to the rain and the wind, the match was played on one of the indoor tennis courts in Ondarreta, which was too small to witness what was suspected to be one of the matches in the tournament. And none have disappointed. The Gipuzkoan because despite knowing she is physically inferior due to an elbow injury, she has never given up, not even when she was lost in the first set and was able to have options to lose in the end 6-4. And the Czech because she brings together all the virtues that are supposed to come from someone who has become the youngest tennis player in history to win five professional tournaments at the age of 15. Something out of the ordinary has to happen so that she does not become the winner of this first edition. Fruhvirtova’s numbers are scary. She has won seven titles this season, she hasn’t lost a game since June 30 – there are already 26 in a row – and it doesn’t look like she’s going to do it soon if she maintains the level offered this Wednesday with points of all colors. She is number 166 in the world ranking and yes or yes she will go up like foam.

Aranzabal and Idiakez, this Thursday

Aranzabal-Idiakez from San Sebastian will play the doubles not before 3:30 p.m. against Bouzas Maneiro and Romero Gormaz.

The tournament ends on Sunday.
