Thanks to their victory in the Eurobasket, Spain is close to the first place in the world rankings FIBA, with two small points back on the United States. France loses a place and finds itself 5th.
Spain was close to a double. After winning the European title in the Eurobasket against France (88-76), La Roja gained points in the FIBA rankings, now finding themselves less than two small units behind the always leaders, the United States.
With the updated rankings, the United States remains in the lead with 760.7 points. But Spain picks up very seriously with 758.9 points. Since the creation of this FIBA ranking, the Americans have always been in the lead. A vulnerable position, especially since the European champions can still earn a few points in the qualifying matches for the 2023 World Cup next November and February.
France, unhappy in the final of the Eurobasket, loses a place in the standings and finds itself 5th (712.9 points). The Blues will be able to pull themselves together, also in November and February, for the qualification for the World Cup. They will face Lithuania on November 11 and Bosnia and Herzegovina on November 14.
