in a contrasting atmosphere, Brazil outclasses Tunisia

For its last match before the 2022 World Cup in less than two months, the Auriverde team won a clear victory (5-1).

Gala match this Tuesday evening at the Parc des Princes. Tite’s Brazil, undefeated for more than a year, faced a Tunisia which has continued to gain momentum since coach Jalel Kadri sat on the bench at the end of January. This last rehearsal before the World Cup turned into a demonstration, with a resounding victory for Seleçao (5-1).

If some still doubted that Brazil was a serious candidate for the world title in Qatar, this match has most likely dispelled the last questions. It’s a seasoned, efficient and confident team that folded the debates even before the break. If Montassar Talbi (16th) quickly equalized after Raphinha’s opener (11th), Tite’s men then killed all suspense by scoring every ten minutes by Richarlison (19th), Neymar on penalty (29th) then Raphinha for the double (40th). A late intervention on Neymar resulted in Tunisian defender Dylan Bronn being sent off by Rudy Buquet (42nd). The latter had been struggling for a few minutes to keep control of a very intense match punctuated by a few scuffles.

The Seleçao silenced the Parc des Princes

The Tunisians therefore approached the second half in numerical inferiority and with a delay of three goals. The intensity had fallen to the Park, the Brazilians spinning the ball around the low block of the Eagles of Carthage. Surprisingly, Jalel Kadri’s men were almost more dangerous in the second act, worrying Alisson several times on quick counterattacks.

But it was finally Brazil who managed for the fifth time of the evening to shake the net, via Pedro who scored his first goal for the selection. Under the whistles of a stadium acquired for the vast majority from the Tunisians despite the presence of PSG players Neymar, Marquinhos or even the ex-Parisian Thiago Silva, the Auriverde managed the end of the match well. The party was somewhat spoiled by whistles during the Brazilian anthem, lasers in the eyes of the players and throwing projectiles including a banana on the goal of Richarlison. But we will remember this Tuesday evening the enticing game offered by Brazil which, with 16 consecutive games without defeat and a close-knit group, is one of the big favorites for the World Cup in Qatar (November 20 to December 18).
