Heartbreaking defeat for the Bombardiers this weekend

NICOLET. The division finals began last weekend in the Mauricie Senior A Baseball League and the Nicolet Bombardiers were in action in Saint-Maurice.

Nicolet thought she was leaving Saint-Maurice with a victory, but the Condors came back to them in extremis to win the match 10-9 and take a 1-0 lead in this series.

The Bombardiers had scored 8 of their 9 runs in the first four innings. Subsequently, the party was spoiled. Saint-Maurice gradually eroded this lead at the end of the 4th inning, to arrive at the end of the seventh with a count of 9 to 6 Nicolet.

Two doubles and two singles plus an error tied the game at 9-9. With two outs and Félix Tétreault on second base, Condors player manager Louis Phillipe Prince hit the ball between third and shortstop and Tétreault slipped except at home plate for the 10-9 win.

Note that Mother Nature came to disrupt matches #2 of the finals on Sunday, September 18. They have been postponed to next weekend. The other series opposes Louiseville to Saint-Paulin.
