Prognoses are better than expected for New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Trevor Penning, who has surgery on his foot to treat a torn ligament.
The NFL Network reported that the injury initially raised fears of a season-long absence. However, it now looks like he will be able to return to training in early November.
Penning was the 19th selection in the last NFL Draft and was battling with James Hurst for left tackle. He was injured in his team’s last preseason game.
The Northern Iowa University product grabbed attention in training camp by brawling at least once in three consecutive practices. He was also expelled from the field at the end of the last altercation.
