Gladbach: Bundesliga record! Borussia collects that for Max Eberl

Max Eberl has left Bundesliga soccer club Borussia Mönchengladbach and will become the new Managing Director Sport at RB Leipzig. In this photo, the 48-year-old can be seen on December 11, 2021 at a ZDF appearance.

The cause of Max Eberl (48). Negotiation poker for millions has taken place for weeks. On Monday (September 19, 2022) Gladbach and Leipzig then announced that both clubs had reached an agreement.

Max Eberl is thus the new Managing Director Sport RB Leipzig. In December, Eberl should make his Bundesliga comeback with the Saxons.

Gladbach: The Eberl deal was a top priority at Borussia Park

But what did the Eberl deal cost “RasenBallsport” in the end? According to GladbachLIVE information, a decent sum of millions.

According to our research, the reigning cup winner initially pays a base amount of around five million euros for Eberl Borussia Monchengladbach.

On top of that. Gladbach is also said to have put some clauses into the deal that would increase the amount further if the liaison between Max Eberl and RB was successful in sport.

It can be assumed with a clear conscience that Gladbach will collect a total of up to eight million euros for giving in to the Eberl cause.

Not in vain had Stephan Schippers (55), chief financial officer and managing director at Borussia-Park, launched the sentence “in good and fair discussions with RB Leipzig that corresponds to our ideas” in a press release from the club.

Means: RB Leipzig pays a manager record fee in the Bundesliga to Gladbach for Eberl.

For comparison: In 2021, Hertha BSC had the commitment of manager Fredi Bobic (50), who came from the reigning European Cup winner Eintracht Frankfurt, cost 2.5 million euros.

There are good reasons why Leipzig now has to spend millions for Max Eberl.

Eberl still had an employment contract in Gladbach until June 30, 2026. Without an exit clause.

Although this contract had been suspended since January 28, since Eberl’s resignation for health reasons on the Lower Rhine, it was still fully valid under labor law.

So RB had to buy the new sports director and top manager out of an ongoing contract.

The fact that RB boss Oliver Mintzlaff (47) had come under increasing pressure to act in recent months, since Leipzig had been without a sporting manager since Markus Krösche (42) left Eintracht Frankfurt in June 2021, is not a problem for Gladbach in negotiating poker been a disadvantage.

Leipzig is now affording not only what is probably the best, but also the most expensive manager in the league.

And Gladbach can look forward to millions in compensation after the manager quake from the left Lower Rhine eight months ago.

That Borussia’s Big Boss, President Rolf Koenig (81), which Causa Eberl made a top priority together with Stephan Schippers, ultimately pays off for VfL.

Eberl, who is said to have received a contract with RB until June 30, 2026, collects a whopping million-dollar salary in Leipzig.
