Girona’s Aleix Garcia (CN Banyoles) and Galician Rodrigo Conde won the silver medal this Sunday in the men’s double sculls final of the World Rowing Championships held in Racice (Czech Republic), in which the French Hugo Boucheron and Matthieu Androdias. Garcia and Conde clocked a time of 6:10.52, bettered only by the French, current Olympic champions, who clocked 6:09.34. The bronze medal went to the Australians David Bartholot and Caleb Antill with 6:11.92.

The Spanish boat entered the final with the best time of their semi-final series (6:11.46) and was able to improve it today in the final, in which they took command at the start but were overtaken by the French and the Australians, whom they managed to overtake a few meters from the finish line to be second. The silver of García and Conde, who were also European runners-up last August in Munich, is the second of the Spanish delegation in these world championships after the one achieved yesterday by the Andalusians Jaime Canalejo and Javier García in two without a coxswain.
