The German wheelchair basketball league starts with a top game, the Hessen derby between RSV Lahn-Dill and the Frankfurt Skywheelers.
Kick-off is on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Frankfurt-Dornbusch.
RSV Lahn-Dill wants to defend title
The mission of defending the title of the RBBL championship awaits RSV Lahn-Dill, and the Frankfurters hope to stay up in the league this year on their own. After their relegation, the team from Frankfurt was able to keep its place in the upper house of the RBBL thanks to a wildcard.
Three newcomers to the Mittelhessen
On the part of the guests from Central Hesse, the main focus is of course on the first competitive game for their three newcomers. The American Rose Hollermann, the German national player Matthias Güntner and the British world champion Ghazain Choudhry will roll onto the RBBL floor for RSV Lahn-Dill for the first time. “Of course, the coordination isn’t perfect yet, but we’re improving from training session to training session,” says head coach Janet Zeltinger,
Frankfurt has to cope with departures
In terms of sport, the Frankfurters want to secure the league this time on their own, which last year failed by a hair’s breadth. However, the three-time German champions have to cope with the departure of Australian Kim Robins, who left the club in the summer and returned to his adopted home of Munich. Coach Marco Hopp will also no longer be on the sidelines of the Skywheelers in the new season, but four players with RSV past are still there.
