Free agent Montrezl Harrell settles with Philadelphia 76ers

Former LA Lakers player Montrezl Harrell is set to join the Philadelphia 76ers.

The center has apparently agreed a two-year, $5.2 million contract with the Sixers. He reports that ESPN– Journalist Adrian Wojnarowski. A player option should also be included in the new working paper.

The 28-year-old last played for the Charlotte Hornets, where he averaged 11.4 points and 4.9 rebounds in 21 minutes per game. He helped the Hornets get to the Play-In tournament. There you failed but at the Atlanta Hawks. Harrell had 9 points and 3 rebounds in just 16 minutes of play.

He probably had his best time with the Los Angeles Clippers. Harrell played there for three seasons. In his final season with the Clips, 2019-20, he was named the NBA’s sixth man of the year for the best bencher, posting 18.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks strong numbers per game.

However, the Clippers didn’t want to keep Harrell at all costs and the Big Man switched to the Los Angeles Lakers. There he fell out of the rotation after a successful regular season and was hardly used in the playoffs.

Harrell was part of the trade that brought Russell Westbrook to LA the following off-season and had to join the Washington Wizards. They sent him to the Hornets in February. At the Sixers, Harrell is now reunited with Doc Rivers, the coach from his successful days with the Clippers.
