Vitorian boxer Fran Mendoza will return to the ring in less than a month. It will be next October 15 at the Judimendi sports center. His rival will be the dangerous Venezuelan boxer Johneiker Quintana. A level test for the young man from the Mendoza family -his brother, Natxo, is one of the benchmarks in the province and hung up his gloves a year ago- to continue progressing on the national scene. Mendoza, who lives in Vitoria but was born in Colombia, is number one in his country and 31st in the world in his category, bantamweight.

It will be an eight round fight. Fran Mendoza, with fourteen victories in as many fights -with seven wins achieved by KO- faces a highly demanding challenge against Quintana. 27 years old and older in these fights, he emerged victorious from his last fight, held in May in the German city of Tempelhof. Since his debut in 2015, he has a record of ten wins – ten of them by knockout – and five losses.

At 25 years old, Mendoza is also going through a sweet moment in his still young career and will arrive at the event after taking the victory in his last fight, which was held on May 20 in Bilbao. There he demonstrated his solvency against Alexander Mejía. “I felt good; Mejía did not take a step back, he put up a fight and I think we offered a fight that the public liked, “the San Antero boxer valued then.

In the appointment, in addition, several professional K1 matches -another combat sport- can be seen, as well as several crosses of that discipline and amateur boxing. The event will start at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are available for 18 euros in advance. «We have seen videos of Quintana and we can say that he is a dangerous fighter, he moves well, looks for angles, hits hard and knows how to be in the ring. It will not be an easy fight for Fran, “says Andoni Alonso, one of Mendoza’s two coaches along with José Luis Celaya.
