Former judo coach Rolando Veitía will return to Cuba

Former Cuban judo coach Rolando Veitía, who was hospitalized for six weeks in Alicante, Spain, will return to Cuba, according to sports journalist Julita Osendi, who has been following the case.

Osendi affirmed that the children of the former coach asked INDER for help so that their father could rehabilitate himself on the island. The journalist reports that Veitía also suffered a fainting spell last week, which has hindered her full recovery.

In mid-August, Osendi confirmed through his social networks a “marked improvement” in the state of health of former Cuban judo coach Rolando Veitía. At that time he was still hospitalized in Spain.

According to a part of his son, Ihosvany Ronaldo Veitía, “he has already come out of the serious state in which he was, his improvement is frankly noticeable in all aspects.”

“He continues to express positive signals to all the stimuli that are made to him and his neuromuscular responses are adequate. He does not have a fever and all the studies carried out have given negative results to possible infectious processes, ”he added.

Veitía Jr. explained that “the new brain CT scan performed shows no lesions, in addition a heart CT scan was performed and the result was satisfactory. He is already ingesting food orally in solid and liquid form”.

“Due to his positive evolution, he will leave the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and will be transferred to the room. He already articulates his first words, albeit with a certain degree of difficulty due to the exhausting days of sedation and assisted breathing, ”he added.
