In the 39th minute in Charleroi-Ghent on Saturday, Okumu tried to shield the ball for a throw-in and was touched by Isaac Mbenza from behind, where he had to take a push.
Once the ball was out, the defender turned and pushed with both hands in the direction of the neck area of Mbenza, who fell as a result. Referee Lothar D’Hondt did not hesitate and sent him straight off the field with a red card.
The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office had previously proposed a four-match suspension, with three of them effective. For the Committee, one effective suspension day and one deferred sentence were sufficient. In doing so, it relied on Okumu’s blank disciplinary history and the provocation he had to undergo just before the action by Isaac Mbenza.
The file will come before the Disciplinary Council for professional football on Friday, which will make a decision by the end of the day.
