FC Bayern is in crisis after the defeat at FC Augsburg. Club boss Oliver Kahn stands in front of the criticized Julian Nagelsmann. Now a special clause from the coach’s contract is known.
Oliver Kahn became clear during FC Bayern’s Oktoberfest visit on Sunday afternoon. “We’re not dealing with any other coaches now. We are totally convinced of Julian,” said the CEO of the German record champions.
The question of coaching does not arise in the club, although the team under coach Julian Nagelsmann lost 0-1 at FC Augsburg last Saturday and has not won in the Bundesliga for four games.
Despite Kahn’s commitment to the 35-year-old coach, there is speculation on social networks about the future of Thomas Tuchel, from whom Chelsea FC recently parted. In addition, a clause from Nagelsmann’s contract became public. It’s about a so-called “expulsion clause.” “Sport Bild” reported first, and the contract passage was also explained in the program “Bayern Insider” on Bild TV.
After Nagelsmann’s second year of contract, i.e. at the end of the current season, fixed severance payments apply in the event of a separation. They are staggered and decrease with each contract year.
Before the end of the second year, a severance payment would be freely negotiable. A termination during this season could be expensive for Bayern.
Eight to nine million euros annual salary
In 2021, Munich paid around 25 million euros for Nagelsmann to RB Leipzig, with Bayern the coach should earn eight to nine million euros a year.
Kahn wants to use the international break at FC Bayern to thoroughly work through the Bundesliga misery: “We now have the opportunity to go into analysis for 14 days, to deal critically with each other, to have many discussions and then to tackle the next part of the season with renewed strength .”
Kahn continues: “The team must have realized by now at the latest that apart from our own fans there is no one out there who would give us another championship title.” Most recently, the club won ten championships in a row.
After the international break, Bayern continues in the Bundesliga with a home game against Bayer Leverkusen. This is followed by the league summit at Borussia Dortmund and a home game against SC Freiburg.
In the meantime, Munich can qualify early for the round of 16 in the Champions League with two games against Viktoria Pilsen.
“It’s not about perseverance slogans. Thank God we’re still relatively early in the season. We always have the strength to get back to the top,” said Kahn.
