Ex-Bayern star’s house confiscated in Iran

He used to fight for the ball, now for his country…

Ex-Bayern star Ali Karimi (43) was allegedly a victim of the Iranian government on Monday. People across the country have been demonstrating against those in power for a week.

What happened?

The protests in Iran were triggered by the death of 22-year-old Iranian Mahsa Amini. She was arrested by the Morality Police just over a week ago for violating the strict Islamic dress code.

What exactly happened to Amini after her arrest is unclear. But she fell into a coma and died in a hospital on Friday. Critics accuse the morality police of using violence.

The fact is: the former Munich Karimi showed his solidarity with the protest movement and posted several videos on Instagram and Twitter a few days ago, in which he severely criticized the brutal attacks by the Iranian rulers against the people.

His commitment to justice in his country was now his undoing!

Because according to information from the ARD journalist Natalie Amiri (44), Karimi’s house was confiscated by the Iranian authorities on Monday. The journalist posted a picture on Twitter that apparently shows the front door of the house. In front of it are two panels. It can be assumed that both are manifestation boards.

On Wednesday, the ex-Bundesliga star spoke up himself, made suggestions and wrote with heart smileys in the national colors of Iran: “A house without a floor is worthless. Take it.” According to Amiri, he is trying to express that Iran has no value as it is.

Despite the worst consequences, the Iranian continues to fight for justice and freedom in his country.

Karimi played for the German record champions between 2005 and 2007, scoring four goals and assisting four in 42 games. Two years later he left Säbener Strasse for Qatar SC, but briefly played again for a Bundesliga club with Schalke 04 in 2011. In 2014 he ended his career in Iran, after which he worked as a coach for the Iranian third division club Sepidrood Rasht FC. Since April 2021 he has worked as a consultant for the Iranian second division club Kheybar Khorramabad FC.

In addition to Karimi, Leverkusen star Sardar Azmoun (27) also showed solidarity with the protest movement.
