Germany’s water polo players missed the quarterfinals at the European Championships in Split. One day after the men’s preliminary round, the women’s team of the German Swimming Federation (DSV) lost 3:13 (0:2, 3:6, 0:3, 0:2) to Greece.
After the third defeat in the fourth game, the DSV selection no longer has a chance of the top four places in group A of the preliminary round, which would mean qualifying for the quarter-finals.
The newly formed DSV selection, which started in Croatia with numerous youngsters, had already lost the decisive game against the hosts with 8:15. Only a fundraiser that brought in 42,000 euros made it possible for the team to take part in the European Championships.
