There are six matches that Espanyol have played this season and four of which they have closed with defeat, a fact that leaves them on the verge of relegation once the first stoppage of the competition has been reached for the national team matches. The last defeat, yesterday afternoon at the Reale Arena, in a weak match for Diego Martínez’s side, who have only won at Athletic this season.

A glaring mistake by the goalkeeper Álvaro Fernández, before the transfer of his teammate Calero, allowed Sorloth to advance the home team in the quarter of an hour of play. Edu Expósito offered some light with the equalizer just two minutes later, but it was Brais Mendez, on the stroke of half an hour, who made it 2-1. Espanyol did not get away with it, without powder in front and unable to add, at least, a point.
