Dear Netizens, PSSI Chairman Promises to Extend Shin Tae-yong’s Contract

Shin Tae-yong seems to have made PSSI satisfied. The South Korean coach’s contract was about to be extended.

The Indonesian national team managed to beat Curacao 3-2 in the FIFA Matchday agenda at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium, Saturday (24/9/2022) night WIB. This result extends Shin Tae-yong’s sweet record as a coach in Indonesia.

Contract Shin Tae-yong will expire after the end of the U-20 World Cup in 2023, which will take place in Indonesia. But PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan admitted that he would extend the coach’s contract.

“But, I, as the General Chair of PSSI and of course, have coordinated with Exco to extend Shin Tae-yong’s contract. We also see that the pressure from netizens for STY to be extended has also strengthened,” said Mochamad Iriawan, quoted from the federation’s official website.

“On that basis, of course, apart from seeing the team’s performance, PSSI will extend the contract in question. For how many years the contract has been extended, we will discuss it further,” he said.

Shin Tae-yong able to bring Indonesia to win 12 times as a tactician. The other five matches were draws, and five ended in defeat.

The Indonesian national team has scored 51 goals under Shin Tae-yong. The biggest victory came when they beat Nepal. In the 2023 Asian Cup Qualification, Indonesia won with a final score of 7-0.

Regarding the record conceded, the Indonesian goal has conceded 30 goals. The biggest defeats were swallowed by Vietnam and Thailand. Indonesia lost 0-4 to the two tough rivals in Southeast Asia.
