Daniela Corchón, finalist in the Ibiza International U17 badminton

The young Soria volantista Daniela Corchón went to Ibiza this weekend, called by the National Team to play the International tournament that took place on the Balearic island. The test was included in the calendar of the European Federation. The balance of the participation of the young woman from Soriana was positive, obtaining her, as the most outstanding result, the fifth place in the female double modality.

In the individual box, the woman from Soriana had no luck and in the first round, the draw pitted her against the Englishwoman Lila Dundas, who ultimately won the tournament. After a first set where Soriana felt pressure from her debut in the competition, she displayed her best game in the second set where she was very close to forcing the third game after losing 22-24.

In women’s doubles, paired with Alba Prada from Galicia, they reached the quarterfinal round where they were beaten by the Romanian couple formed by Sorina Teodora Juganaru and Ioana Popescu 21-16 and 21-18.

With the good feelings shown by Corchón and the continuous work with the technicians of the Soria Badminton Club, the player hopes to continue having the confidence of the Spanish Federation technicians for future calls.

Appointments in Alfajarín and Medina del Campo

In addition to this highly demanding European competition, the rest of the Club Badminton Soria quarry had two appointments, in Alfajarín (Zaragoza) and Medina del Campo (Valladolid) with very good results, just as the last tests prior to the summer ended. .

Daniela’s little sister, Isabel, competed in the Aragonese event obtaining the runner-up position, within the individual box of her category, the sub15. In her first year in this section, the youngest of the Corchón sisters begins to acclimatize to the sub15 players.

Finally, there were also good results from the U13 players in the test organized by the Castilla y León Federation in Medina del Campo. Once again, the youngsters from the Soriano club more than met with a win, two runner-up finishes and three bronze medals.

In the individual, the two subchampionships were achieved by Aarón Barrera and Jimena Ayllón. Fulfilling the expectations that placed them as favorites, they did not disappoint until they hung the silver medal in their respective paintings. In the men’s, both Álvaro Gómez and Daniel Marín reached the semifinals to round off an excellent tournament.

In the U13 men’s doubles event came the triumph of the Soriano club achieved by the couple formed by Aarón Barrera and Íker González. In the same modality, Álvaro Gómez and Daniel Marín won the bronze medal.
