Cristiano Ronaldo accused of inappropriate and violent conduct in England | football curiosities

The English federation has accused Cristiano Ronaldo for hitting a fan’s cell phone after a 0–1 loss against Everton in April 2022.

The footballer of Manchester United apologized after the incident, for which he was investigated by the police. “The striker’s conduct after kick-off was inappropriate and/or violent,” the FA said in a statement.

Why are they investigating it?

In mid-August, British police issued a “conditional warning” to Manchester United footballer Cristiano Ronaldo for throwing an Everton fan’s mobile phone to the ground last April.

This is a type of warning that the police often use against people without a record for minor crimes, such as drawing graffiti, as described by the UK Government on its official website.

The admonished person must admit that he has committed the offense, thereby speeding up the legal process and avoiding going to trial, although the crime is recorded on his criminal record.

“We can confirm that a 37-year-old man appeared and was interviewed on warning in relation to an alleged assault and criminal damage,” Merseyside Police said in a statement.

“The accusations relate to an incident after the football match between Everton and Manchester United at Goodison Park on Saturday 9 April,” the security forces detail.

“The matter has been resolved with a conditional warning. The matter is now closed,” the note added.

Although the police do not detail the conditions of that reprimand, the Government details that this type of punishment usually entails measures such as “repairing the damage to property” caused.

The Portuguese footballer threw the mobile of a 14-year-old supporter to the ground after the 1-0 defeat against Everton, as could be seen in images of the incident shared on social networks.

After what happened, Ronaldo apologized for his behavior and invited that fan to attend a match at Old Trafford “as a sign of fair play and sportsmanship.”
