Status: 09/01/2022 12:26 p.m

Due to the ongoing effects of the corona pandemic in China, the World Athletics Federation has again postponed the World Indoor Championships scheduled for 2023 in Nanjing.

As the association announced, the World Cup, originally scheduled for March 17th to 19th next year, should now only take place there in 2025. The title fights were originally scheduled to be held in Nanjing in 2020 and were first postponed to March 2021 and then to March 2023.

The time frame makes it impossible to move the World Indoor Championships to another location next year, explained World Association President Sebastian Coe. The next world championships under one roof will therefore not take place until March 1st to 3rd, 2024 in Glasgow.

In the following outdoor season, the European Championships in Rome and the Olympic Games in Paris are on the agenda. The next outdoor world championships will take place in Budapest in less than a year.
