Constant Lestienne continues his journey in San Diego

This is the year of firsts, for Constant Lestienne. First foray into the top 100, first direct entry into a main circuit tournament and, now, first qualification for the quarter-finals.

At thirty, the current 76th player in the world easily disposed of the Chilean Alejandro Tabilo (70th), Thursday, in the second round of the ATP 250 tournament in San Diego (6-1, 6-3 in 1h05). Extremely successful on the Challenger circuit in 2022 (3 titles, 2 finals, 2 semi-finals), Lestienne is in the process of making its place on the big circuit. He is already guaranteed to be able to play in the Australian Open 2023, which will be his very first Grand Slam final draw.

In the meantime, he will face Friday in the quarter-finals in San Diego the Briton Daniel Evans, seeded n ° 1 and 25th ATP. Whatever happens, Constant Lestienne will obtain the best ranking of his career on Monday, for the first time in the top 70.
