Colombia National Team: how it has gone before against Mexico, see match history | Colombia selection

This Tuesday, September 27, at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara (9:00 pm, Colombian time), Colombia and Mexico will meet in a friendly match on the FIFA Date in September. The tricolor comes from beating Guatemala with authority (4-1) and the Mexicans also did the same against Peru (1-0, goal by Hirving Lozano).

In official duels, Colombia has won three of the four they have faced, including the 2001 Copa América final. As for friendly duels, they have faced each other 22 times, with a balance of nine Mexican victories, four Colombians and nine draws, with 0-0 as the most recurrent score. He has sealed a goalless draw six times.

The most relevant commitment between both teams took place at the El Campín stadium, on Sunday, July 29, 2001. That day, Iván Ramiro Córdoba scored the only goal of the Copa América final that was organized in the country, converting the most important goal that rests in the history between both teams.

Four years later, the Colombia team beat Mexico again in an official match. It happened in the gold Cup which was played in the United States. That July 17, 2005, at the Reliant Stadium in Houston, the tricolor won with goals from Jaime Castrillón and Jairo Patiño.

This was the last three meetings between Colombia and Mexico

Colombia won 2-1, with goals from Giovanni Moreno and Carlos Darwin Quintero. That friendly duel was played in Dallas, United States, in 2009.

In September 2010 the triumph was signed of the Mexican team (1-0), with a goal from Elijah Hernandez at 88 minutes. That day they were measured at the Monterrey University stadium.

In February 2012, Colombians and Mexicans met for the last time. Duel that ended in favor of the tricolor with goals from Falcao Garcia and Juan Guillermo Cuadrado at Hard Rock Stadium. Preparation for Brazil 2014 by José Pékerman.
