The Jupiler Pro League is now nine match days away. At the moment only Antwerp, Club Brugge and KRC Genk seem to have a chance at the title, although things can go quickly in football.
Bee TLV Sports Café let Jacky Mathijssen shine his light on KRC Genk and Wouter Vrancken. Genk would like to conclude a long-term agreement with the success coach. They mainly want to do this to avoid a scenario à la Philippe Clement.
After he played champion with KRC Genk, Clement started working for the big title competitor: Club Brugge. In order not to lose Vrancken in the same way, the Limburgers want to offer a long-term contract, instead of one of indefinite duration.
“I think Genk is afraid to play champion and then lose him,” says Jacky Matthijsen. TLV Sports Café. “They probably didn’t expect it to go so well so quickly”, is the only conclusion the former Club Brugge coach can make.
