Champions League: Coach Glasner takes Eintracht professionals to task

After two home defeats in a row, Eintracht Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner called on his team before their Champions League appearance at Olympique Marseille.

“It always requires a high level of intensity and mental readiness,” Glasner demanded of his protégés to improve significantly in the second group game of the premier class (9 p.m. / DAZN).

The 48-year-old football teacher had criticized his team unusually sharply after the 0-1 draw against VfL Wolfsburg last Saturday. “I just want us to learn from it,” he justified his public scolding. In an internal discussion on Sunday, the Eintracht professionals were very self-critical, reported Glasner. “That concludes it.”

Only four months after the Europa League triumph, there is some unrest in the Hessians. Glasner and sports director Markus Krösche have not always seemed to be on the same wavelength. In addition, things are not going well in terms of sport. In the Bundesliga, the team is only eleventh with only eight points from six games, the premiere in the premier class against Sporting Lisbon last week was lost 0: 3. A success in Marseille could calm things down for the time being.
