Casarabonela celebrates its 7th historical recreation tomorrow, Saturday, with period games, falconry workshops, archery and tastings – Culture and Education

Casarabonela hosts tomorrow, Saturday, September 24, the seventh edition of its Historical Recreation. Under the name of ‘Azahar’, the town is transformed into a 16th-century town and offers visitors a wide-ranging program of activities, including traditional games, falconry workshops, a craft market, archery and food tastings. typical. The event is organized by the Culture Area of ​​the Casarabonela City Council and the Casarabonela Historia Viva Cultural Association.

The Plaza de la Villa is the place chosen to transport the attendees to a scenario based on three historical events: the publication of the anti-Moorish pragmatics in January 1567, the end of the second inquisitorial visit to the lands of Malaga’s hubbub in September of 1568, and the beginning of the uprising of the Moriscos of the Kingdom of Granada against King Felipe II on Christmas Eve of 1568.

This was announced by the Deputy for Culture, Manuel López Mestanza, together with the mayor of Casarabonela, Antonio Campos, and Elena Gutirrez and Juan Mariano Pacheco on behalf of the Casarabonela Historia Viva Cultural Association, at the presentation of the historical re-enactment programme.

In this sense, Mestanza has recalled that “this type of historical festivities serve to promote and value the history and heritage of the municipality, in addition to publicizing the varied traditions and customs of the towns of the province and this edition comes with an excellent program that will attract visitors from other parts of the province”.

Likewise, the person in charge of culture highlighted “the effort of the Provincial Council to promote cultural, tourist and leisure activity in the inland towns, which undoubtedly helps the economic recovery of small municipalities”.

As explained by the mayor of Casarabonela, Antonio Campos, the celebration will start at 12 noon with an inaugural parade through the streets of the municipality where actors, extras and groups will participate to give way to the activities. At 1:00 p.m., period games will be held, along with a falconry exhibition and workshops, and from 2:00 p.m., the Casarabonela Historia Viva Cultural Association will be in charge of offering a free tasting of tripe and pot of beans.

In the afternoon, the town will be animated with circus performances, archery exhibitions by the Benalmdena Archers Association and guided tours of emblematic places in the municipality. All this accompanied by a snack of Moorish fritters.

The conference room of the Casaracultura Francisco Castellano building will host at 6:30 p.m. the conference ‘Knowing the past to understand the present. The history of the Moriscos of Casarabonela’ that will be in charge of Francisco Gmez Armada. It will be followed by dance performances, theatrical performances and a fire show at the hands of a fakir will put the finishing touch to the historical recreation of Casarabonela 2022.
