SportFEAT.com – Indonesian men’s doubles, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo are threatened to miss the BWF World Tour Finals.

Marcus/Kevin themselves are finalists of the 2021 BWF World Tour Finals which was held in Bali.

This time the BWF World Tour Finals 2022 will be held again in Guangzhou, China after being absent due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The BWF World Tour Finals itself is one of the most exclusive prestigious tournaments.

How not, not just any player can take part in the event despite having a good rating.

The BWF World Tour Finals participation system is based on the results of players participating in tournaments that are included in the BWF World Tour category (grade 2) in each season.

In each sector, only eight players can participate in the BWF World Tour Finals.

The possible absence of Marcus/Kevin at the BWF World Tour Finals can not be separated from their performance that has not yet produced a title and the small number of tournaments they participate in in 2022.

In two events in Japan, at the 2022 World Championship and the 2022 Japan Open, Marcus/Kevin were only able to penetrate the round of 16.

The year 2022 has entered the month of September, Marcus / Kevin have only played a total of 14 matches with nine wins.

The fourteen matches only cover five tournaments, namely, the All England Open 2022, Indonesia Masters 2022, Indonesia Open 2022, World Championship 2022, and Japan Open 2022.

The pair, nicknamed The Minions, had to miss several times after Marcus had to undergo a recovery period after an injury.

As a result, Marcus / Kevin are currently still in 28th position by collecting 23,940 points.

However, Indonesia still has three men’s doubles in the top 10.

Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, who were so consistent in 2022, made them at the top of the BWF World Tour Race to Guangzhou rankings.

In addition, there is the winner of the All England Open 2022, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana who is still in fourth place.

Unfortunately, of the three pairs, each country was only able to send two representatives to the BWF World Tour Final.

Later the eight contestants will be divided into two groups with each group containing 4 representatives.

Only the top two positions can qualify for the semifinals.
