Dortmund The BVB team led by young professionals Felix Passlack and Dzenis Burnic prevailed in the final in Dortmund in a dramatic penalty shoot-out 8-7 against the under-19s of FC Bayern Munich. Defender Amos Pieper converted the decisive penalty. It was 0-0 after 120 minutes.

With 33,450 spectators, a new record was set at an A junior final. The previous record was 23,000 spectators, set in 1976 when FC Schalke 04 beat their district neighbors Rot-Weiss Essen 5-1.

This makes BVB the first club to defend its title in the A-Junior Bundesliga. For the Westphalians it was also the seventh title in the U19 division. BVB had prevailed as West champions in the semi-finals against VfL Wolfsburg, Munich defeated FC Schalke 04.

In June, Dortmund will be the first club to complete the double from the U19 and U17 titles. BVB’s U17s meet SV Werder Bremen in the semi-finals of the B-Junior Bundesliga.
