Boulogne-Levallois surprised at Gravelines, Blois created the feat in Betclic Elite

It was the evening of surprises for the launch of the Betclic Elite 2022/2023 this Friday. Gravelines-Dunkerque won (85-73) against third in the last championship, Boulogne-Levallois. Aggressive and efficient in transition, the BCM started strong, carried by its American duo Justin Robinson – DJ Seeley (18 and 15 points in total). A start rewarded with a +13 advantage at the break (42-29).

A gap that Vincent Collet’s Mets have never been able to fill, despite a great Victor Wembanyama. The best hope of last season, a defector from Asvel, has already impressed, ending the game with 23 points (best scorer of the match) and 10 rebounds.

Two minutes from time, a three-point basket from Wembanyama allowed the Ile-de-France residents to come back to nine points. But the awakening was too late for the Metropolitans, who will have to react against Pau-Lacq-Orthez on Tuesday (8:30 p.m.).

Blois surprises, Dijon controls

The other surprise of the evening came from Blois. The promoted, who was playing the first match in its history in the first division, created the feat on the floor of Roanne (90-94). The Chorale however started the game well, mastering the entire first period (52-44, +8 at the break). But ADA Blois, led by Jaime Smith (15 points) and Tyren Johnson (12 points), gradually gained the upper hand (27-17 in the third quarter). The decision was made with nineteen seconds remaining, Johnson scoring the game-winning basket.

For its part, Dijon, semi-finalist last year, won a serene success at home against Portel (87-76). Deprived of their coach Eric Girard and their master to play Benoît Mangin, the Northerners had a difficult start to the game (25-18 at the end of the first quarter) and never knew how to come back. Despite a David Holston a little inside (7 points), the Dijonnais never let go of their heads and won an inaugural success.
