BMX cyclist Stūriška wins the second World Cup stage in a row in the U-23 group

Cornerwise, this was the second stage won in a row in Bogotá.

As in the fifth stage of the World Cup, the Latvian athlete started the BMX supercross competition with an easy victory in the first round, and was also the fastest in the semi-finals, which allowed her to get the first choice for the final tracks.

In the final, the Latvian started from the first track, which allowed her to get the inside edge in the first turn. Stūriška was able to increase his lead in the second straight after successfully clearing the first corner. Second place went to McNeese Jaychert from the USA, who was just behind Sturiskas in the previous stage. Veronika did not give up her lead until the finish, thus celebrating her second victory in two stages of the World Cup.

In the men’s elite, Latvian champion Kristens Krīgers qualified for the round of 16, where he finished fifth, not qualifying for the quarter-final.

On the other hand, in the women’s elite group, Vineta Pētersone had to finish the competition in the first round for the second stage in a row. Meanwhile, in the men’s U-23 group, Edvards Glazers and Rinalds Jānis Kārklinņš overcame the first round, finishing eighth and sixth respectively in their rounds of the round of 16, which prevented them from qualifying for the quarterfinals.

Next weekend, the seventh and eighth stages of the competition will take place there in Bogotá.
