Berlin (SID) – Captain Dennis Schröder has been elected to the all-star team of the home European Championship after the bronze coup of the German basketball players. Together with Giannis Antetokounmpo (Greece), Rudy Gobert (France), Lorenzo Brown and Willy Hernangomez (both Spain), the NBA professional from the Los Angeles Lakers is in the “Allstar Five”, which was announced on Sunday evening after the final in Berlin .
Schröder is the first German since Dirk Nowitzki in 2007 to make it into the all-star team at the European Championship. The most valuable player (MVP) was meanwhile NBA professional Hernangomez (New Orleans Pelicians), who had defeated France with the Spaniards in the final with 88:76 (47:37). Nowitzki presented Hernangomez with the MVP trophy on the floor.
Only a few hours earlier, Schröder and Co. had won the bronze medal match against Poland with 82:69 (36:23).
