Babacar Wade relinquishes the presidency

Judo Federation: Babacar Wade hands over the presidency

After 8 years at the head of the Senegalese Federation of Judo and associated disciplines (Fsjda), Babacar Wade has decided to leave the chair of the body. A rare decision, but laudable in a country where the problem of the third mandate gives rise to many controversial debates.

Yet the outgoing president of the Fsjda had no serious suitors for his succession and the texts did not prevent him from remaining in his post, but Babacar Wade decided not to run for a third term.

”It is neither the rules nor the morals that led me not to run for a third term. It’s a personal choice. I said to myself that I did what I had to do, so I had to let someone else continue the work to achieve what I couldn’t do,” says Babacar Wade.

He was replaced in this post by Babacar Ngom, who was vice-president of his predecessor. He was elected by acclamation.
