ATP, Roland Garros > Federer (addressing the French public): “You have always liked champagne tennis and I think I was one of the few players to offer this tennis”

A few hours after the end of Laver Cup rich in emotions following the definitive cessation of his career as a professional tennis player, Roger Federer gave a very interesting little interview to our colleagues from RMC Sport in which he returns to his relationship with the tricolor public. And it is clear that the Swiss loves France and its supporters.

“I am also very proud of my relationship with the fans in your country. You have always liked champagne tennis and I think I was one of the few players to offer this tennis. I address to the French a huge thank you. I experienced a lot of things with you: a lot of junior tournaments. I won my first match in Toulouse (Editor’s note: in 1998 against Guillaume Raoux). There was Marseille, Roland, Bercy, which I was able to win. The Davis Cup too, in Lille (Editor’s note: 2014). I have no specific plan as to a possible return to France. But we’re not very far, huh… It will be very soon, I’m sure. »
