Arsenal Stops Match Updates, Respects the Late Queen Elizabeth II?

Queen Elizabeth II died while Arsenal were undergoing a Europa League match. Cannon London’s social media account also stopped updating matches.

Zurich vs Arsenal took place at AFG Arena in the first matchday of Group A, Friday (9/9/2022) early morning WIB. The duel took place 1-1 in the first half after Marquinhos’ goal was rewarded by Mirlind Kryeziu’s penalty.

During the first round of matches, news broke that Queen Elizabeth II had passed away. Arsenal’s players then returned to the pitch to begin the second half with black bands on their arms and a moment of silence.

Arsenal in the process was able to win the match with a score of 2-1. Eddie Nketiah scored the winner with a header.

The victory was not announced by Arsenal on social media. Arsenal’s Twitter account tweeted about the match when the score was still 1-1.

The same can be seen on Arsenal’s Instagram. There are no match updates at all and result info is only posted on the club’s official website.

Comments from team representatives regarding the match were also not circulated on the official UEFA website and Arsenal’s official website. The club seems to want to pay total homage to the Queen.

Cesc Fabregas once made claims regarding the club backed by Queen Elizabeth II. The man from Spain called the Queen an Arsenal fan.

“It looks like the Queen is following football and she told us (in 2007) that she is an Arsenal fan,” Fabregas said as quoted by the Express.

“He seemed to really know who I was and we exchanged some special words.”
