America turns the page and now focuses on Atlético Nacional for the next date

The Cali Reds added a valuable point on Saturday against the leader Millonarios in Bogotá, a result that keeps them in the group of eight, with high chances of ensuring their participation in the second phase.

Against the blues the important thing was the reaction, albeit late, when they lost 2-1. Coach Alexandre Guimaraes appealed to the attackers he had on the bench, Gianfranco Peña and Daniel Mosquera, and in the last breath the latter scored the goal that gave the scarlet team an important point.

There were good performances such as that of Kevin Andrade, Brayan Vera, Nicolás Giraldo and Juan David Pérez, but others that were not as decisive as Carlos Sierra, Daniel Hernández, Esneyder Mena, Daniel Quiñones and Adrián Ramos.

“We put together a web and managed to make them feel uncomfortable in their combinations. In the second half, they came closer and managed to find some spaces, but after Millonarios’ second goal, we had to take that step forward with the modifications that went very well for us”, said coach Alexandre Guimaraes.

The variants had an effect: Gianfranco Peña accompanied with his power in attack, Déiner Quiñones woke up the team and sent the center that Daniel Mosquera took advantage of for the saving header.

National, on the way
Turning the page on what happened in Bogotá, America is now lining up batteries to face a highly demanding match against Nacional on Sunday, at the Pascual Guerrero.

For that commitment, coach Guimaraes recovers Valle del Cauca midfielder Juan Camilo Portilla, whose absence was felt on Saturday against Millonarios.

It is also expected to see the evolution of defender John García to determine if it is enough for the duel against Nacional. The rest of the payroll is available, at least those who have been called.

América needs the three points against Nacional to ensure its classification to the next phase of the Colombian League.
